classic-q10According to a report from yesterday, it was suggested that the upcoming BlackBerry Classic could feature a 13MP camera that would no doubt put it in contention with other smartphones out there with similarly high megapixel counts as well. However if you were hoping that was the case, the folks at N4BB have poured cold water over your hopes.

According to them, they state that the BlackBerry Classic will not feature a 13MP camera. Instead it is expected to come with the same camera as the BlackBerry Q10. In fact they also posted a photo comparison (which you can see in the image above) in which the camera modules of both the BlackBerry Q10 and Classic are compared, and as you can see, they do indeed look similar.

We suppose this is slightly disappointing as a 13MP camera would have been welcomed by BlackBerry fans, although we have to say that megapixel count isn’t everything. It is primarily used as a marketing tool by camera manufacturers and smartphone OEMs. Granted there is use for high megapixels if you were to print out large images or if you wanted to crop zoomed in photos and don’t want to lose the details

However if you’re just looking to photo photos on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram, or just want to document your daily activities, a higher megapixel count probably wouldn’t affect you that much. Either way anyone else slightly disappointed by this?
