Well this is certainly an interesting bit of news. Most of us expect Apple to show off only its new iPhones at the September 9th event. There’s a section that believes that the company may also unveil its much rumored smartwatch, the iWatch. We haven’t heard much chatter about a new iPad being announced alongside all this but in an investor note circulated today this possibility has been raised.

The investor note comes from none other than the infamous Ming-Chi Kuo of KGI Securities. Kuo claims that the iPad Air 2 will be unveiled alongside the iPhone 6 and the iWatch at next Tuesday’s event in California.

The analyst writes in the note that only the “iPad Air 2 will see significant spec upgrades” this year. Looks like Kuo believes the iPad mini with Retina display may not bring that many changes when a new model is launched this fall. As far as the iPad Air 2 is concerned the analyst believes it will be powered by Apple’s A8 processor, will have an anti-reflective screen coating and that a new gold color option may also be offered.

Previous rumors have suggested that the Touch ID fingerprint sensor might make its way to the flagship tablet, Kuo reiterates these rumors. No major design changes are mentioned in the investor note as the iPad Air itself brought some major changes for the tablet’s design.

Apple hasn’t confirmed if its going to unveil a new tablet as well but I guess we’ll have to wait and see to find out for sure.
