tab-activeTablets come in a variety of sizes, and save for a few, most tablets tend to be a tad fragile which is why some tablet cases tend to be a bit more rugged than the rest. However if you wanted a tablet that is rugged right out of the box, you might be interested to learn that Samsung has recently taken the wraps off their latest tablet – the Samsung Galaxy Tab Active.

Just like Samsung’s other “Active” series of handsets, the tablet will feature an IP67 protection rating, meaning that it will be able to withstand immersion in water as well as have protection from dust. We don’t suggest that you take the tablet for deep sea dives, but if you drop it in a puddle or in the pool, your heart won’t have to skip a beat.

The tablet will also feature protective edges, as you can see in the image above. This will allow the tablet to withstand shock and drops from as high as 1.2m, and to top things off, Samsung will also include Mobile Care Service which will cover damage caused by accidents, so you can rest assured that you could get a replacement in the event the tablet is damaged.

Other than that, the rest of the specs aren’t particularly exciting. It will feature an 8-inch 1280×800 display and will be powered by a 1.2GHz quad-core processor with 1.5GB of RAM, 16GB of onboard storage, a microSD card slot, a 3.1MP rear-facing camera, and a 1.2MP front-facing camera with a 4,450mAh removable battery.
