sms continuityWhen Apple announced iOS 8 earlier this year, there were a handful of features that were pretty exciting and that many users were probably looking forward to. Unfortunately it seems that some of these features might not be making it into the release of the update which has been pegged for the 17th of September.

According to reports, it seems that SMS Continuity and iCloud Photo Library have been omitted from iOS 8 for now. This is according to an Apple press release where it was mentioned that both features will not arrive in the first release of iOS 8 and that it will instead be released in October as an update.

Apple’s press release reads, “In October, SMS Continuity will be available as a free update to iOS 8 and iCloud Photo Library will be available as a beta.” For those unfamiliar, SMS Continuity allows users to chat on their Macs and iPads even if they receive messages on their phone, while iCloud Photo Library lets users access photos stored in iCloud on any of their devices.

While not exactly killer features, they do sound promising and would no doubt be welcomed by iOS users. In fact this isn’t the only feature that is delayed as Shazam’s integration with Siri was missing from the Golden Master build of iOS 8, suggesting a possible delay or it could be included in the final release.

In fact earlier this year we had heard the rumors that iOS 8’s features could possibly be delayed and released in updates as Apple is said to be concentrating on getting OS X 10.10 Yosemite out to the masses, which is a change of pace from last year where Apple had focused their efforts on iOS 7.
