microsoft__logoMost of the major tech companies have launched wearable devices of their own, save for Microsoft although earlier rumors have suggested that Microsoft could be working on a fitness band/smartwatch device of their own. Well it looks like we can expect those rumors to be proven true in the upcoming weeks.

This is according to a report from Forbes who claims to have learnt that the Redmond company could be getting ready to launch their wearable device in the next few weeks. The device is said to be a smartwatch which more or less confirms earlier rumors, and is said to come with health/fitness-related features, such as tracking the wearer’s heart rate.

Forbes also reports that unlike other wearable devices that seems to have a battery life around one day, Microsoft’s own wearable will have a battery life that could offer two days or more before requiring a recharge. Assuming this is true, it could make it a pretty compelling device since the need to charge a smartwatch on a daily basis can be a tad inconvenient, especially when regular watches can go for months/years before requiring a new battery.

Also unlike some other smartwatches out there, Microsoft’s wearable effort will work across the board regardless of your mobile operating system of choice. Given that Android and iOS are clearly dominating at the moment, it wouldn’t make sense if Microsoft were to limit it to the Windows Phone operating system. In any case take it with a grain of salt for now, but check back with us in the next few weeks for the details.
