The battery life on most smartphones are pretty short and will last us a day or two at most. This has resulted in users buying battery cases, power banks, and in some cases even carrying their chargers with them on the go. Well if you’d rather not be bogged down by all those cases and accessories, the Talkase could be a Kickstarter project worth backing.
Basically the Talkase is a phone that is about the size of a credit card. It features a physical number pad, a small display, and it is only capable of making and receiving calls and text messages and will supposedly have a standby time of 100 hours. The idea is that the Talkase will be your backup phone in the event your smartphone’s battery dies.
The phone will accept micro SIM cards so you could get a backup SIM card or maybe swap out your smartphone’s SIM in the event your phone’s battery dies. It will also be able to pair with your smartphone via Bluetooth and receive calls that way, although we’re guessing that this will probably end up draining both your smartphone and Talkase’s battery.
It measures about 5.5mm which is definitely thicker than a credit card, but if you have space in your wallet or purse or bag, we reckon it’ll fit right in without too much fuss. We’ll admit it’s a pretty clever idea and if you’d like to get your hands on it, head on over to its Kickstarter page for the details.
