There has been a lot of speculation about the Steve Jobs movie, the rights to which were initially acquired by Sony Pictures. This movie is based on the official biography of the Apple co-founder written by Walter Isaacson. Aaron Sorkin has written the script. While its not quite clear who is going to play the lead role in this movie today it has been confirmed that the movie has finally found a new home.

Soon after it was reported that Christian Bale had backed out of playing Steve Jobs, we heard that Sony Pictures put the movie in turnaround. It was rumored at that time that Universal Pictures might be interested in scooping up this project.

A spokesman for the studio confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter today that Universal Pictures has indeed acquired the rights from Sony Pictures. While the price tag was not revealed it is speculated that this transaction may have cost Universal nearly $30 million.

So far it has not been confirmed who is going to portray the Apple co-founder in this film. Recently Michael Fassbender was attached to the project after Christian Bale reportedly took his name out of the running. Fans would certainly be anxiously to know who is going to play the technology icon, and that’s something we all dearly want to find out.
