Earlier we reported on a rumor that Samsung could be unveiling Galaxy Alpha handsets with limited edition leather finishes on them. Well as it turns out the rumors are true as Samsung France has officially announced that they will be launching the Galaxy Alpha with leather backs and that they will be limited edition devices.

The design of the leather backing was not done by Samsung, but rather with a collaboration with shoe company Free Lance and artist Jean-Baptiste Rautureau and is aimed at both men and women. Apparently only 100 such units will be made available so safe to say that these are extremely limited edition devices that will most likely be snapped up in no time.

No word on how much these limited edition handsets will be priced or if they will ever see themselves sold stateside or in other markets, but we have to admit that they do look pretty spiffy and also classy, as the leather backing certainly blends well with the metal frame of the Samsung Galaxy Alpha.

However apart from the leather backing, everything else about the phone will remain the same, so don’t expect any hardware updates under the hood just yet.
