origin logoUh-oh, it seems that if you have an Origin account with a credit card linked to it, you might want to start checking your statements because according to reports, there are some users who have started to report unauthorized purchases made on their accounts along with other suspicious activities.

The reports first surfaced on Reddit and it is unclear as to how widespread this issue is. It could be that just a handful of users had poor passwords and had their accounts hacked, but another major and possible scenario is that Origin itself got hacked as a whole and that the hackers are now using their financial details to make unauthorized purchases.

Users on Reddit have posted that they have been charged for games that they didn’t buy, while others claim to have received emails informing them of failed attempts at purchasing games through their Origin account. One user reported that he had started to receive achievements for a game he has never played, while another claims to have been banned after someone used his account to purchase FIFA and to farm coins.

EA is currently helping out users who are experiencing these issues and have stated that they will be looking into the matter. In the meantime like we said, if you have an Origin account, you might want to enable two-factor authentication which you can do so from the Account and Privacy -> Security section of the menu.
