macbook_air_2013_3-800x270As many of you are aware by now, Apple will be hosting an event on the 9th of March. While Apple was not specific as to what might be launched at the event, many have speculated that the event will most likely detail the Apple Watch’s launch which has been confirmed to begin shipping in April.

There has also been speculation that the event could see the announcement of the 12-inch MacBook Air but according to new rumors, that will not be happening. This is according to a report from The Wall Street Journal (via MacRumors) that suggested that the 12-inch MacBook Air will not be announced at the event.

Instead their sources claim that the laptop will most likely be saved for a mid-year launch at Apple’s annual WWDC event which is typically held in June. Their sources have informed them that the laptop will only begin shipping in Q2 2015 and with Apple’s launches typically taking place in the middle of the year and later part of the year, WWDC does seem to be the most likely candidate.

Apple has launched new products at WWDC before so this would not be completely unprecedented, such as the Mac Pro and the Retina MacBook Pro, both of which were unveiled at Apple’s previous WWDC events. In any case take it with a grain of salt for now, but do check back with us on the 9th of March anyway for the details.
