blackberry passport

Want better accidental damage protection for your shiny new BlackBerry Passport? The Canadian company has got your covered. Today it launched the new BlackBerry Care Protection Plan which will provide customers with up to two years of accidental damage protection. The plan also covers an extra year of mechanical and electrical breakdown coverage.

The new plan only covers some of the company’s most recent devices so don’t expect to get coverage for your old Bold 9900. BlackBerry is only offering the plan for the BlackBerry Leap, BlackBerry Classic and the BlackBerry Passport to customers in North America.

The company says that it built this plan with its core users in mind, mobile professionals, who see their BBs as essential tools for communication, productivity and collaboration.

After the company’s standard one year limited warranty expires those who are on this plan will get an additional year of coverage for mechanical and electrical breakdown due to device defects.

Coverage for accidental damage caused by dropping the device, spilling liquid etc is also included. BlackBerry will also provide the option of a smartphone replacement if claimed to minimize customers’ downtime.

The BlackBerry Care Protection Plan is now available to customers in the United States for $3.49 per month for the Leap, $3.99 per month for the Classic and $4.49 per month for the BlackBerry Passport.
