apple_maps_bookingTrying to find a nice place to stay while traveling can be tricky and relying on the reviews of other guests usually helps. This involves users opening up websites or apps such as TripAdvisor or Booking.com to search for hotels and to check out the reviews left by other guests, but the good news is that those extra steps can now be saved.

Apple has recently updated its Apple Maps app and it looks like TripAdvisor and Booking.com reviews are now integrated within the app itself. What this means is that if you just want to search the area for different hotels, you will be able to do so and at the same time pull up the different reviews to get an idea of whether this is somewhere you want to be staying at.

Prior to this, Apple had relied on Yelp to provide the reviews for the different locations and businesses listed on the Maps app, but now it looks like TripAdvisor and Booking.com have been included. However Apple has yet to officially acknowledge the changes as its Maps acknowledge page still currently lists Yelp as its data partner, but presumably this will be updated later on.

The Maps app from Apple, while a good effort, has received a lot of criticism in the past due to its numerous bugs and its tendency to provide bad directions, however Apple has made a lot of improvements behind the scene over the years so hopefully by now it should be a viable alternative to those who wouldn’t mind using it over the competition.
