Samsung is known for launching multiple variants of its flagship smartphones which is why it won’t surprise anyone if the company launches a variant of the Galaxy S6, which itself is due for release on April 10th. There have been countless rumors about the Galaxy S6 Active and about the carrier it will first be provided to. AT&T is believed to get it first and the carrier’s inventory list has given that away.

Carrying model number SM-G890 the Galaxy S6 Active is expected to arrive first at AT&T. The carrier has offered Samsung’s previous Active handsets as well so this is not a new arrangement by any means.

Samsung has still not confirmed when it intends to announce the Galaxy S6 Active. Obviously there’s no information on pricing at this point in time.

Previous reports suggest that the Galaxy S6 Active is going to have a 5.1-inch Quad HD Super AMOLED display with an octacore Exynos 7420 processor underneath married to 3GB of RAM.

The handset is also going to have a 16-megapixel rear and 5-megapixel front camera as well as 32GB of onboard storage. It may even have a microSD card slot which is missed on the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge.

Obviously the defining feature of the Galaxy S6 Active will be its resistance to water and dust, which will earn it the “Active” moniker.
