It’s no secret that Samsung has an interest in flexible display technology which it ultimately wants to see on its smartphones and tablets. The crucial question is when the company will actually decide to make the switch to flexible display technology for devices like tablets, which have significantly larger displays than smartphones. If a report out of Korea is to be believed then Samsung isn’t going to do this in 2015 at least.

A new report from Korea-based inews24 claims that Samsung is going to hold off on releasing tablets with flexible displays sized 7-inch and above in 2015. Instead the company is going to focus its energies on releasing smartphones with flexible displays this year.

The report quotes unnamed sources from Samsung which claim that the company is concerned about profitability from flexible tablets and that’s one of the major reasons why it’s holding off this year.

The company will instead use its flexible display technology in devices that have displays under 7-inches, smartphones basically, so tablets with this technology aren’t on the table this year if this report is to be believed.

It is unclear at this point in time if Samsung is going to change its mind next year, but it’s a bit too soon to speculate about 2016 right now, so we’ll see what happens when the new year rolls in.
