While Tron:Legacy did not end up as a phenomenal box office success despite delivering some really snazzy 3D effects along the way, it proved to be a trip down memory lane that many people appreciated to say the least. having said that, it looks as though Tron 3 is in the pipeline, as Disney is said to be taking a step in the direction that will see a third “Tron” movie hit the silver screens in due time, and this upcoming effort will feature “Legacy” leads Olivia Wilde and Garrett Hedlund.
I guess this means that we will see more Lightcycles, not to mention additional merchandise that have to do with the movie that will help generate more income along the way. “Tron: Legacy” stars Olivia Wilde and Garrett Hedlund are tipped to reprise their respective roles, being Quorra and Sam Flynn, and director Joseph Kosinski looks set to be part of the equation to boot.
Rumors point that filming will kick off later this year in Vancouver, and that might mean a theatrical release that would be some time in 2017 or 2018. Other details on the film’s plot remain non-existent, or they have been carefully guarded upon the pain of death. It does not look as though Jeff Bridges will be spending any more time in the Grid though.
