gtav_details09122014_015Given how popular Rockstar’s Grand Theft Auto 5 has proven to be, we’re sure many gamers are wondering what exactly goes on behind the scenes, like how the game was conceived, how it was created, and so on. In fact the BBC was planning on airing a documentary on the development of the game called “Game Changer”, but apparently Rockstar isn’t too thrilled by it.

The developers of the game have recently filed a lawsuit against the BBC in a trademark dispute and in an attempt to prevent the documentary from being aired. The documentary will see Daniel Radcliffe star as Rockstar’s co-founder Sam Houser, with Bill Paxton as anti-game lawyer Jack Thompson.

It is unclear as to why Rockstar does not want this documentary to be aired, but the company claims that they have reached out to the BBC multiple times in the past before finally deciding to proceed with a lawsuit. Rockstar’s parent company Take-Two also states that they have been in talks with the BBC but declined to get into specifics.

According to the publisher, “Our goal is to ensure that our trademarks are not misused in the BBC’s pursuit of an unofficial depiction of purported events related to Rockstar Games. We have attempted multiple times to resolve this matter with the BBC without any meaningful resolution. It is our obligation to protect our intellectual property and unfortunately in this case litigation was necessary.”
