When it comes to fitness trackers, there are plenty of options to choose from, although unfortunately for swimmers there just aren’t too many available for you guys yet. That being said if you love swimming as one of your fitness activities, you might be interested to learn that Garmin has announced a couple of new wearables.

These new wearables come in the form of the HRM-Tri and the HRM-Swim. Both devices are heart rate monitors and they have been designed for triathletes and swimmers in mind. The device will be able to capture data of the swimmer underwater and will then share the information with a compatible Garmin device at the end of the session or when the monitor is out of the water.

However this means that if you’re looking for constant real-time updates while you’re swimming like regular heart rate monitors, you’d be out of luck. While this might be handy if you’re planning on just monitoring your own fitness, it might not be as useful if you’re wearing the monitor while your coach is monitoring your progress.

That being said if that limitation is fine with you, the HRM-Tri and HRM-Swim are expected to be made available in Q3 and will be priced at $129.99 and $99.99 respectively. Alternatively they can be bought as an accessory bundle for a price of $199.99.
