Android OEMs have a habit of preloading many applications on their devices which might appeal to some users but are just a source of nuisance for others because they end up taking valuable storage space, particularly on devices that don’t support external memory expansion. Samsung is quite famous for preloading multiple applications so much so that it was sued by a committee in China for this practice, the company has now said that it will allow users in China to remove these apps for good.

If you have no use for these preloaded applications you can disable them, here’s how you disable apps on Android, but disabling an app is not the same as deleting it permanently. You can’t do that on Samsung devices.

The committee sued Oppo and Samsung for preventing users from deleting preloaded applications, Samsung is complying with its wishes by allowing users in China to permanently remove the preloaded apps. Samsung says that it will have patches available at after-sales centers starting August which will allow users to do just that.

Samsung doesn’t appear to have much wiggle room here with the committee saying that if Samsung does not meet this promise the legal process will be continued and possibly even expanded.

The company hasn’t said if it has any intentions of giving this choice to customers outside China, since the entire idea behind removing these apps is to make an Android device faster, I’m sure many would greatly appreciate it if Samsung did.
