ios 9 siriSay you’re in a situation where you can’t openly dial 911, but you need to call the cops, what can you do? Interestingly enough it seems that you can actually “secretly” call the cops simply by telling Siri to charge your phone to 100%, as it was discovered by The Verge recently, although we suggest you don’t try it lest you really end up calling 911 for no good reason.

It isn’t clear if this is a bug or if it is a hidden security feature, but if it is a bug, it does seem like an odd one and we can’t be sure what is it about that particular phrase that might trigger calling 911. That being said, it should be noted that there will be about a 5-second delay before the call actually goes through, so if you’re absolutely itching to try it out, you have 5 seconds to cancel the call once it takes place.

Prior to this, there was another incident with Siri in which asking it about the 9/11 terrorist attacks on America will also result in calling emergency services, something which the police have cautioned users about. In that situation it was more of a feature flaw as Siri could not distinguish between 911 and 9/11.

However like we said, we’re not sure why charging your phone to 100% will activate emergency services, but what do you guys think? Is it an Easter Egg/hidden security feature? Or some kind of weird bug?
