office-2016-previewAs it stands, Office 2016’s public preview has been released and anyone interested in taking the suite of productivity apps for a spin can do so, but given that it is only a preview, there are bound to be some bugs and kinks that will hopefully be ironed out before its official release, which last we checked was slated for this year.

However the question we’re sure many are curious about is when in 2015? If the latest rumors are to be believed, there is a good chance it will be next month. This is according to a report from Winfuture.de (via Winbeta) who claims to have gotten their hands on what seems like an internal memo.

According to the note, it states that come 22nd of September, Microsoft will be releasing Office 2016 to the masses. It is unclear if this version of Office 2016 is for Windows or if it is for Mac or if it is for both platforms, however given that the release date has yet to be confirmed by Microsoft, it’s best taken with a grain of salt for now.

That being said, Microsoft did promise a 2015 release and considering that we’re only several months away from the end of the year, September would be as good a time as any to release the latest version of Office.
