office-2016-release-dateThere is no smoke without fire, or so the saying goes. Well, at the start of this year, it was speculated that Office 2016 will roll out this year, and a public preview was released in May this year, before close to the end of last month, we heard a rumor of September 22nd being the launch of Office 2016. It looks like that particular rumor was spot on, as Microsoft has officially mentioned that September 22nd is, indeed, the launch date for Office 2016.

This Office 2016 roll out will kick off with Office 365 ProPlus users who happen to be on the “Current Branch”. As for Volume License customers, you will be able to download your versions beginning October 1st. It is also hoped that Microsoft will make an announcement concerning a new update scheme for businesses that should be in line with the Service Pack update model found in previous versions, where there should be a trio of major cumulative updates arriving annually, while IT departments can test out new versions before deploying them.

All of the new versions of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, Outlook, Access, and Publisher will be fully touch enabled in order to ensure that they can lead users to a whole new era of productivity and interactivity. [Press Release]
