viw cameraWith selfies being the rage these days, we have seen handset makers start creating smartphones with front-facing cameras with higher megapixels, wider apertures, and wider angles to allow more of the background or people into the frame. However if you’d rather not sacrifice some of your specs for a selfie camera, you’re in luck.

A Swedish design firm has recently announced a smartphone camera attachment called the ViW. As you can see in the photos, it’s a relatively small and thin device that clips onto the camera of your smartphone. The concept is similar to the clip-on camera lenses we’ve seen in the past and in the case of ViW, it increases the field of view of your smartphone’s camera.

According to its creators, the device will last about 4 hours on a single charge.

However at the moment the device isn’t available for purchase just yet. Its creators expect to launch a Kickstarter for the ViW come this Tuesday so if this sounds like an interesting gadget, then check back with us tomorrow for its Kickstarter details.
