Not only do the new iPhone 6s and 6s Plus feature new hardware like a new chipset, more RAM, better camera, and 3D Touch, but it also introduces an improved Touch ID sensor which is said to be faster than its predecessor. If you thought that Touch ID could be a little slow, how much faster is its successor?

Thanks to the folks at AppleInsider, they have uploaded a video onto YouTube in which both versions of Touch ID are compared to each other to see which is faster. Based on the video, it is clear that the new iPhone 6s and its improved Touch ID is faster than the one found on the iPhone 6.

Perhaps when you’re using the phone you might not notice its speed increase as it beats out the iPhone 6 marginally, but when you’re watch the video and looking at it side-by-side, the speed difference is very obvious. With the iPhone 6s, unlocking the phone and having Touch ID detect your fingerprint is almost instantaneous.

With the iPhone 6 however, there is a slight lag even when double pressing to bring up the task manager. However it is possible the speed increase could also be attributed to the faster A9 chipset and its 2GB of RAM, but either way if you’re considering upgrading to the iPhone 6s from the iPhone 6, it looks like it could be a worthwhile thing to do.
