Nexus-6P-04Yesterday we brought word that the Nexus 6P had been given Band 12 certification. This was not officially announced but rather it was inferred thanks to the fact that the phone was spotted on T-Mobile’s list of certified devices. We then presumed that an update would then officially enable the bands on the phone.

However it turns out that maybe it was a bit premature. According to T-Mobile’s social evangelist Des, “We’re continuing to work with @Google to test Band 12 & VoLTE on the new Nexus P6 & should have more to share in the near future.” When asked if perhaps the information was pushed out prematurely, he replied by saying, “It’s something our partners are continuing to work on and we should have more to share soon!”

Basically based on this information, it looks like T-Mobile’s earlier listing was not meant to have gone live when it did. However the tweets do suggest that they are working on it and hopefully we will have official word soon. As it had been suggested in our previous report, it is possible that Google might push out the update as part of their monthly security update in December, so maybe it will be official by then, but in the meantime it looks like Nexus 6P owners will just have to remain patient.
