pagare smartstrapOne of the features of the Apple Watch is the fact that it has Apple Pay built into the device. This means that you could use your smartwatch to help pay for purchases. It is more convenient than whipping out your phone especially given that the watch will be worn on your wrist. The good news is that if you’re a Pebble owner, you can expect NFC payments in the future.

Wait, what? Yes, we know that the Pebble smartwatch does not have NFC built into it. This means that mobile payments will not be supported, however it seems that recently during a hackathon, a company by the name of CONNECTEDEVICE came up with a watch strap designed for the Pebble that will come with NFC.

Dubbed the Pagaré Smartstrap, this is a watch strap that connects to the Pebble’s smart accessory port. Thanks to its built-in NFC, an accompanying app should basically given the Pebble smartwatch the ability to conduct mobile payments. No doubt this would be a lot more efficient and elegant compared to the clunky PayPal system that was introduced last year.

Unfortunately the Pagaré Smartstrap has not yet been launched. There are plans to launch it on Kickstarter come January 2016, so if you’re interested in such an accessory for your Pebble, then hit up its website for the details.
