Oculus may have helped Samsung with the Gear VR headset but the company has its own hardware in the pipeline that it has been working on for the past few years. Oculus is going to commercially release the Rift headset in the coming year and naturally it’s going to need a lot of good content to push the VR headset. The first exclusive game has been announced for the Rift today, Crytek’s The Climb combines adrenaline and adventure in an exhilarating virtual reality experience.

Basically The Climb replicates the experience of solo rock climbing in virtual reality, it’s a game that’s best suited for virtual reality, and it works for Oculus that Crytek has agreed to make it a Rift exclusive.

The Climb lets thrill-seekers experience “the ultimate in extreme sports,” allowing them to indulge in activities like scaling deadly cliff faces unaided. “Hyper-realistic” climbing locations from across the globe are featured in this title and players will get to discover the freedom of gaming with the Rift headset when paired with either the Oculus Touch controller or the Xbox One controller.

So far the company has not confirmed what a consumer version of the Oculus Rift headset is going to cost when it arrives next year but it’s believed that it won’t cost below $350, with Oculus founder Palmer Luckey saying that he believes people will be happy with what they get for the price because “it’s going to be the best VR headset you can buy.” We’ll find that out for sure next year.
