Samsung-Galaxy-Note-5-20

T-Mobile users who own a handset from Samsung’s 2015 flagship lineup should keep their eyes open for a new software update today, the company is rolling one out, however it’s not the one that you have been waiting for. This is actually a security update that has been released for these handsets, which is equally important as one with new features, if not more so it’s advised that users update their handsets immediately when the new firmware lands on their devices.

Samsung Galaxy Note 5, Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 Edge and Galaxy S6 Edge+ are receiving this update on T-Mobile today, it’s a pretty nifty one, weighing in at just around 75MB as it brings only crucial security updates.

However many users are anxiously waiting for Android 6.0 Marshmallow to arrive, and an update notification is likely to make them think for a second that perhaps they have finally received Android’s latest treat.

Samsung has not yet confirmed when it’s going to start rolling out Marshmallow for its flagship handsets from this year, but that’s not where the buck stops, carriers will put the update through its paces and only then will it be released to end users. This means that people with a Samsung handset may have wait for a while before they get a taste of Marshmallow.

This particular update for the aforementioned devices brings improvements for device stability, makes some performance tweaks and implements crucial security fixes that haven’t been described in detail in the changelog. The update is now being rolled out over-the-air by T-Mobile.
