Towards the end of each month the set of free games to be made available for Xbox Live Gold members is confirmed, Microsoft has stuck to that tradition by confirming the Xbox Games with Gold titles for January 2016. Microsoft is ringing in the new year with four new free games, two each for Xbox One and Xbox 360, those who own the former can play all four courtesy of backwards compatibility on the Xbox One.

Killer Instinct: Season 1 Ultra Edition worth $39.99 is free during the month of January for Xbox Live Gold members on the Xbox One, and so is Zheros, which will be available free from January 16th to February 15th.

Members on Xbox 360 get DiRT Showdown free through January 15th, starting the very next day members will be able to download Deus Ex: Human Revolution at no charge until January 31st. Both titles will also be available for free to members who own an Xbox One since backwards compatibility enables them to play these titles on the current-gen console.

Those who don’t have a membership need not worry, as part of the holidays Microsoft is running the biggest sale ever for Xbox Store. The Countdown sale is live now and it will offer significant discounts on games and media content until next month for both members and non-members alike, so don’t forget to check that out as well.
