Depending on how particular you are, backing up your files on your computer and on your phone should be done regularly. This is to ensure that should anything go wrong, you would have the latest files backed up, as opposed to a backup that was made a month ago. We know that sometimes the process can be lengthy, depending on the number of things to backup, but a USB cable called MEEM wants to make it easier for you.

MEEM is essentially a USB charging cable that will charge your mobile device. It comes in Lightning and micro USB options, meaning that it can charge iOS and Android devices. However the kicker here is that whenever you plug your device to it, the cable will automatically start backing up its contents.

The content is stored on the cable itself and it comes in 16GB or 32GB options. It is admittedly not a lot if you own a 64GB or higher phone, but given that MEEM only backs up personal data and not the entire contents of your smartphone, it should be enough. Its creators claim that on average, Android users have about 1.9GB worth of personal data that can be backed up, while iOS users have an average of 7.68GB.

The cable also come with a compatible smartphone app to allow users to further control the device and the backup process. It has also been certified by Apple so you don’t have to worry about your phone blowing up on you while charging. In terms of pricing, the 16GB MEEM for Android and a 32GB MEEM for iPhone will be priced at £49.99 and £69.99 respectively.
