Recently Valve released a piece of software that basically checks to see if your PC is capable of supporting the HTC Vive. Interestingly enough it seems that upon further digging, it has been discovered that the company might have made some references within the benchmarking tool to some future games.

The games in question are Half-Life 3 and Left 4 Dead 3. Now we should point out that in the past, various references to the games have been spotted. These are obviously long shots since these references don’t explicitly state Half-Life 3 or Left 4 Dead 3. For example last year there were references that said “hl3” which in all honesty could mean anything, but many gamers have taken it to mean Half-Life 3.

That being said, given the success of both franchises, especially with Half-Life that helped spawn various mods that resulted in standalone titles like Counter-Strike and Team Fortress, we’re pretty sure that Valve will not let the Half-Life franchise fade into obscurity. As for Left 4 Dead 3, last we heard in 2012, the company did have plans for a new title, although when that will happen is anyone’s guess.

In any case if you have some time to spare and want to check out these references for yourself, check out the video above courtesy of the Valve News Network.
