It’s fitting that on the day basketball legend Kobe Bryant is to play his final NBA game, 2K Sports announced that it’s going to release a special edition of NBA 2K17 called the Legend Edition. It’s going to feature the Lakers superstar and 18 time NBA All-Star on the cover. This particular version of the basketball game is going to feature a lot of exclusive digital and physical content that revolves around Kobe Bryant.

In a statement Kobe Bryant said that it’s an honor for him to partner with 2K on the NBA 2K17 Legend Edition, “As I walk off the NBA court for the final time, it’s exciting to know my fans can continue to celebrate my lifelong career as a Los Angeles Laker,” he added.

NBA 2K17 Legend Edition is going to cost $80 and will include a limited edition Kobe poster, two Kobe Panini trading cards, and a Black Mamba game controller skin.

Digital content will include 30,000 virtual currency, MyTEAM bundle plus 3 packs with guaranteed Kobe limited use card, Nike Kobe 11 retirement shoes, Kobe #8 Mitchell and Ness jersey and a Kobe hoodie.

2K is going to release the NBA 2K17 Legend Edition in both digital and physical formats, however only those who purchase the game online will receive all of the digital content that’s exclusive to this version of the game.

Cover star for the standard version of NBA 2K17 is yet to be announced, we’ll have to wait until the NBA 2K16 Road to the Finals gaming tournament in June for that. NBA 2K17 is out this September for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, Xbox 360 and PC.
