iphone-7-batteryCompared to many Android smartphones, Apple’s iPhone batteries have always come across as a bit of a joke, although thankfully in recent years Apple has been making improvements to both battery capacity and also power efficiency. That being said, would-be iPhone 7 users will be pleased to learn that the device could be getting a bump in battery size.

This is according to a report out of China which seems to indicate that the iPhone 7 will sport a larger battery than its predecessor, the iPhone 6s. The rumors claim that the iPhone 7 will be packing a 1,735mAh battery while the iPhone 7 Plus will pack a 2,810mAh battery. This is slightly bigger than the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus at 1,715mAh and 2,750mAh respectively.

Now the difference is tiny but we guess every little bit helps. However given that the new iPhones are expected to feature upgraded hardware like newer processors and whatnot, we have to wonder how this plays in with the efficiency of the phone. After all having a large battery is one thing, but matching it with hardware and software that aren’t energy efficient won’t mean much at the end of the day.

It is possible that the difference in battery could just end up offsetting the extra power drawn by the A10 that is rumored to power the iPhone 7, but we guess we’ll just have to wait until the later part of the year for the details.
