alex-wang-appleIt is no secret that Apple is into fashion and would love to consider themselves more of a lifestyle company than a tech one. All we have to do is look at all the recent exec hires, many of which are from the fashion world, and let’s not forget the Apple Watch which has a more fashion forward design, not to mention partnerships with brands like Hermes and possibly even Coach.

That being said, this is why it doesn’t come as a surprise to learn that when it came time for Apple to launch a fashion channel on Apple Music, they have chosen fashion designer Alexander Wang to lead the charge. These playlists are currently available to Apple Music subscribers and there are three to choose from depending on your mood – Chill, Hype, and Vibe.

Speaking to Vogue.com, Wang said, “Chill is my go-to playlist when I get home, when I need to decompress, or when I’m having a night in. Hype—those songs are mostly derived from playlists that I’ve played in a party bus or en route to a festival or going out. They are songs that kick up the energy. Vibe is more a playlist that’s in between, with songs that have high energy and also are great classics. It’s good for having people over, drinks; it’s kind of pregame music.”

Now whether or not the songs will ultimately appeal to you is a different matter, but if you’re looking to listen to music that some of the industry’s hottest designers are listening to, this might be a good start. We can only expect that moving forward Apple will probably be teaming up with other designers for similarly curated playlists.
