When it comes to the endless runner genre, Temple Run is probably one of the more classic titles available out there along with its successor, Temple Run 2. Just like what the folks at Rovio did with Angry Birds by teaming up with movie studios, Imagine has done the same as well, proving how popular the franchise is.

Unfortunately it has been a while since we’ve seen a major update hit the game, but if you ever needed an excuse to dust off your running shoes, you might be interested to learn that Temple Run 2 has recently received a pretty major update in the form of the Blazing Sands update, which will basically give players a whole new area that they can run in, similar to the Frozen Shadows update it received a while back.

Basically instead of the usual zones that players have come accustomed to in the game, the Blazing Sands update will put players in an Egyptian-like setting where they’ll be running through canyons, raging rapids, all the while trying to dodge vines that will impede your progress. There will be new artifacts that can be discovered along with new outfits and a new hat as a reward for collecting them all.

The free update will be available for both iOS and Android, so head on over to the iTunes App Store or Google Play if you haven’t done so already.
