The thing about society is that sometimes we’re so desperate to prove to others that we’re in the know or up to date with the latest news, trends, and so on that we lie. Talk show host Jimmy Kimmel has been calling people out on their lies for the past few years in which he has pranked unsuspecting people with old gadgets which he claims are new.

For example back in 2014, he pranked people into thinking that a $20 Casio watch was the Apple Watch, or that the iPad mini is the iPhone 5s. This year he is back with a new prank, and given that the iPhone 7 was just launched, naturally he decided to prank people with the “iPhone 7” even though technically it has yet to be released.

In this prank, Kimmel is going about it a slightly different way from before. Instead of presenting users with a completely different device, he takes their existing device, cleans it up, puts it into a new case, and claims that the iPhone 7 has an “instant data transfer” feature meaning that the victims of the prank shouldn’t be surprised to find their information on the “new” phone.

In any case the results are hilarious and in the event that it was all staged, it is still pretty funny anyway. If you have a few minutes to spare, do check it out in the video above.
