pokemon-goDuring Apple’s press event last week, Niantic came on stage to announce that Pokemon GO would be arriving on the Apple Watch. It was not specified at that time, but it almost looked like it could have been an Apple Watch exclusive, at least until some data mining revealed that support for Android Wear could be in the works.

The good news is that Pokemon GO will be arriving on Android Wear, eventually. This is according to Niantic’s CEO John Hanke who spoke during TechCrunch’s Disrupt conference in which he spoke about the game arriving on wearables and with regards to Android Wear, Hanke was quoted as saying, “I think it’s pretty likely, yeah.”

According to Hanke, “Our whole mission as a company is to evangelize this whole concept of playing games outside, real world games. Apple Watch we think is a great vehicle for that.” He adds, “As other devices come on the market – if those are Android Wear devices or if they are devices from other quadrants that are interesting for gameplay and mobility, and being active – we’ll look into supporting those, too.”

However we don’t have a specific date as to when Pokemon GO for Android Wear will be released, so we guess gamers will have no choice but to remain patient.
