Battery life on some of Apple’s products are problematic, such as the iPhone where its battery size still pales in comparison compared to its Android competition. Just recently the company’s new MacBook Pros were also reported to be suffering from poor battery life which had to be addressed in an update.
It seems that this is a problem that Apple knows about and the good news is that it looks like the company is taking steps to rectify it. A couple of new job listings were posted to Apple’s website earlier this week that called for a Battery Algorithm Analysis Engineer and System Power and Control Architect.
The former position’s description reads, “In this position, you will be expected to verify advanced lithium-ion battery management technology through battery testing and data analysis.” As for the latter, “Develop, prototype and evaluate system power management algorithms. You analyze power control solutions that improve battery life, system energy efficiency while providing flawless user experience.”
The latter position also mentions SOC which we can only assume will be related to mobile as Apple’s A-series of chipsets are essentially SOCs. Exactly what fruits these new hirings will bear remains to be seen, but if battery life on Apple products is a concern of yours, you can take comfort in knowing that Apple appears to be looking to address it.
