galaxy-s7-design_01About a week ago, it was announced that the Bluetooth 5.0 standard is now available to manufacturers who wish to incorporate it into their devices. Version 5.0 represents the latest in the Bluetooth protocol and if the latest rumors are to be believed, Samsung could be the first to take advantage of it.

According to a report from SamMobile, they claim that Samsung could be the first manufacturer to incorporate the technology into their products, starting with the upcoming Galaxy S8. The Galaxy S8 is expected to be Samsung’s 2017 flagship and following the failed launch of the Galaxy Note 7, Samsung definitely needs a device with killer specs and features to make up for it.

So far what we know about Bluetooth 5.0 is that it extends further and is faster than its predecessors. It is said that it has four times the range, two times the speed, and eight times broadcast message capacity. If this is true, we wouldn’t be surprised if Samsung were to have accessories that would take advantage of it.

Rumors of the Galaxy S8 have been running rampant with reports that it will feature even larger curved displays than the previous versions. There has been talk about Samsung going with dual cameras, but apparently those plans have since been dropped. Take it with a grain of salt, but Bluetooth 5.0 incorporation into the Galaxy S8 really doesn’t seem like much of a stretch.
