pillars-of-eternity-2Several days ago Obsidian Entertainment announced the sequel to Pillars of Eternity in the form of Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire. The developer launched a crowdfunding campaign similar to its predecessor where they hoped to raise enough funds to help make the sequel a reality. Turns out that they didn’t have to wait too long.

If you were to head on over to its crowdfunding page on Fig, you’ll notice that they have managed to reach their goal in about a day. The developers were originally trying to raise $1.1 million, but its crowdfunding page at this time of posting is sitting at $1.6 million and with about a month left to go, we reckon it wouldn’t be out of the question for it to hit the $2 million mark or perhaps even more!

Pillars of Eternity was released back in 2015 and it features a gameplay and design similar to RPGs from back in the day, such as Baldur’s Gate, which we reckon could have furthered its appeal. Its sequel is currently set for a release in Q1 2018, although from what we know as far as video game development is concerned, sometimes they can be delayed for further polish, so maybe you should temper your expectations for now.

The crowdfunding campaign is still up and running so if you’re interested in pledging your support, a pledge of $29 will nab you a digital copy of the game when it is released, or $59 if you prefer a physical copy instead.
