Steadicam has been a name that’s pretty much synonymous with camera stabilizing equipment for a long time now, although for the most part their products have been used in more professional settings, like in movie recordings. However if you wanted a more consumer-friendly version, you’re in luck.

The Steadicam Volt Smartphone Stabilizer has been launched on Kickstarter and it is basically the a handheld stabilizer designed for your smartphone. If this sounds familiar, it is because Steadicam isn’t the first to launch such a device because if you recall, last year the folks at DJI also announced something similar.

However if you do enjoy Steadicam’s offerings and would like to leverage their experience at designing camera stabilizers, perhaps the Volt could be worth considering. There will be multiple modes support where the stabilizer will react differently depending on which mode you’ve selected, such as Sport Mode where it will help with capturing fast moving movements, or Movie Mode where you can create a more cinematic scene.

The Volt promises 8 hours of battery and also promises to respond quicker compared to more traditional 3-axis stabilizers, like the DJI Osmo. If you are interested, the Steadicam Volt is priced at $139 as a Kickstarter special and is expected to begin shipping out to customers this coming June.
