As you might have heard, Nintendo held a presentation yesterday in which the pricing and availability of the Nintendo Switch was revealed, along with the announcement of several games that will be available for the console. Given that it is a Nintendo console, what’s Nintendo without some Mario, right?

For those looking forward to playing some Mario for the Switch, Nintendo has announced Super Mario Odyssey. Interestingly enough Nintendo is indeed switching some things up with Super Mario Odyssey by claiming that the game will be the first time that Mario has had such a large sandbox to explore.

Gamers will be able to explore all kinds of zones and areas ranging from lush forests to the city to the desert. It definitely does not look like the Mario we all know and love, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing. Plus Nintendo’s first-party titles are typically well-made anyway so hopefully that trend will continue with this.

Unfortunately if you were hoping for the title to be available at launch, you will be disappointed to learn that will not happen. Instead Super Mario Odyssey will be released come the holiday season of 2017. In the meantime you can check out bits of the gameplay in the presentation trailer above.
