As you might have heard that day, Ben Affleck had confirmed that he would no longer be directing the solo Batman movie. This left many wondering who could be the new director. According to a report from Variety, a potential new director might have been found in Matt Reeves.

For those unfamiliar with Reeves’ work, he was the director behind movies such as Cloverfield and War for the Planet of the Apes. The report from Variety claims that the deal to snag Reeves isn’t done yet but as it stands Reeves has apparently committed himself to the film, so we guess it looks like it’s halfway there.

So far based on the responses on the internet with regards to Reeves’ involvement in the movie, many seem to feel that it is a good thing, especially with regards to how the other DC movies have been received so far. In any case we can only assume that having a new director means that the movie could be further delayed, but Variety reports that shooting should still begin by the end of the year.

This means that the solo Batman movie will probably be released in late 2018 or maybe even 2019, but we guess better they delay its release than rush out something that isn’t good.
