Nintendo fans who are looking forward to picking up the company’s new gaming console will be delighted to find out that the Nintendo Switch FIFA game is going to be FIFA 18. There was some speculation recently about the promised FIFA title for Nintendo Switch as EA had given us reason to believe that perhaps it might not be a full simulation experience that players will get with FIFA 18 on rival consoles and the PC. An EA executive has now confirmed that the Nintendo Switch FIFA game will indeed be FIFA 18.

In an interview with Gamereactor, EA’s chief competition officer Peter Moore confirmed that “It will be FIFA 18, and it will obviously be later this year when FIFA 18 comes out.”

EA didn’t call this title for the Switch by its name previously, it only referred to it as EA Sports FIFA On Nintendo Switch, which led many to beleive that perhaps it was going to be a watered-down version of the main title. EA has also said that this title will be custom-built for the Switch which means it will take full advantage of the unique hardware capabilties that Nintendo’s new console offers.

Moore confirmed that this title will be developed by EA Vancouver where the FIFA series has been traditionally developed. Since he said that it will be out “when FIFA 18 comes out,” Nintendo Switch owners will have to wait until September 2017 because that’s when new FIFA titles are traditionally released.
