It appears that Sonos has been working on a new product that it’s going to release next month. A leaked listing has been spotted on B&H for a product called “Sonos PlayBase.” It’s unlike any existing Sonos product so it appears to be a new creation. While the listing doesn’t really reveal what this device is going to do, from the looks of it, this is a soundbar for TVs. The design suggests that a TV will be placed directly on top of this plate-shaped soundbar for an enhanced audio experience.

Since this is a Sonos product, after all, the functionality might not be limited to just enhancing the TV’s audio, it may also offer all of the connected music streaming options that you get on other Sonos products.

The leaked images of the Sonos PlayBase don’t reveal much about the device itself. They do show that it includes an Ethernet port, an optical port, a speaker grille at the front and just one button on the side. It doesn’t appear to have an HDMI port.

The PlayBase just might have touch controls and an integrated mic quite like the Play:5 speakers that Sonos released recently. The B&H listing for Sonos PlayBase has now been taken offline but it did mention that this product will be out at some point in March. Sonos is yet to officially confirm the existence of the PlayBase.
