Google confirmed not too long ago that it will soon release Google Assistant for all Android smartphones running version 6.0 Marshmallow and up. This means that the AI assistant is no longer exclusive to Pixel smartphones. The release kicked off a couple of days back and now a OnePlus 3 update has brought the Google Assistant to this handset.

Assistant is Google’s artificial intelligence-powered virtual helper that can do a wide variety of tasks. It was previously limited to the company’s Pixel smartphones and the Google Home smart speaker but now it’s available for a wide variety of Android handsets. Rumors even suggest that Google Assistant might be released for iOS as well.

Google Assistant has now been rolled out to English users in the United States, Canada, Australia, Germany, and the United Kingdom. You need to be based in one of those markets to use this feature on your Android smartphone that’s running on at least Android 6.0 Marshmallow. Google Assistant will get support for more languages throughout this year.

OnePlus has rolled out an over-the-air update for the OnePlus 3 which brings Google Assistant to its handset. It’s unclear right now when this update is going to be released for the OnePlus 3T which is more than capable of powering Assistant as well.
