Last year when Apple announced the new MacBook Pros, they also announced new standalone displays made by LG. As Apple had confirmed that they would no longer be making their own displays, these UltraFine displays by LG were meant to replace Apple’s Thunderbolt Display lineup.

If you thought that there would only be 4K and 5K models being offered, you could be mistaken. In a report from Pike’s Universum (via Cult of Mac), they are claiming that Apple could have new 8K displays that they are planning for the next-generation of Mac Pros. Earlier this week, Apple confirmed that they would be rethinking the Mac Pro with new models possibly coming in 2018, alongside new external displays.

Apple did not go into details so we wouldn’t be surprised if an 8K display would be part of the company’s new lineup of displays. After all a lot of Apple’s computing devices have expanded beyond the Full HD standard, so it wouldn’t really make sense for Apple to offer up Full HD displays, right?

Whether or not Apple will continue their partnership with LG in the manufacturing of the displays remains to be seen, so take it with a grain of salt for now, and also you might want to start saving if Dell’s 32-inch 8K display is any indication of how much such displays could cost.
