ESPN today announced that it’s sending out a new update for its WatchESPN Apple TV app that brings a couple of new features. For the first time ever, the app comes with live streaming Auto-Play as well as ESPN Video on Demand. The idea with this app update appears to be to bridge the gap between online TV streaming and conventional broadcasts.

The live stream Auto-Play feature will play a live stream of one of ESPN’s networks automatically for authenticated users when the app is launched.

The Video on Demand feature is going to provide a new collection of curated on-demand videos that include countless hours of additional content from 30 for 30, E:60, Outside the Lines, SC Featured, World Series of Poker, X Games and more.

Aside from these new features, the WatchESPN Apple TV app now has a sleeker and simpler user interface which allows users to also browse videos by Sports & Events or Channels.

The app update has been rolled out today ahead of the premiere of ESPN’s We the Fans which is an eight-episode multiplatform original series about the lives of Chicago Bears season ticket holders in Soldier Field’s Section 250 during the 2016 season.

The first four episodes of this original series will be streamed exclusively to authenticated subscribers through WatchESPN starting April 9th.
