Before Microsoft confirmed that its revamped console was called the Xbox One X, it was referred to by its code name only which was Project Scorpio. If the latest leak is to be believed, the Project Scorpio branding may live on even after the Xbox One X has been released. Microsoft is apparently going to release a limited Xbox One X “Project Scorpio Edition” as well.

The leak comes from two German retailers that briefly had listings up for the Xbox One X Project Scorpio Edition. The listings have since been removed.

It doesn’t seem like there’s going to be anything different about the Project Scorpio Edition as far as the console’s specifications are concerned. Microsoft may just be paying homage to the console’s original code name with this edition. It’s likely that the changes will only be cosmetic in nature.

The leaked images show that there’s going to be a Project Scorpio logo on the front of the console and the controller. Its controller is going to have an all-black color scheme while the console will have a subtle stippled texture that won’t be available on the standard Xbox One X.

One of the listings mentions that the Xbox One X Project Scorpio Edition will only be available for a limited time. No prices have been mentioned so it’s unclear if it’s going to cost more than the standard version. More information about the Xbox One X availability will be confirmed by Microsoft at Gamescom this weekend.
