The OnePlus 5T is expected to be officially announced tomorrow at an event that will be held in New York City. Thanks to leaked photos, we kind of know what the handset will look like, but it seems that there could be more than we expected. If the rumors are true, OnePlus could be working on a limited edition Star Wars OnePlus 5T.

This was initially reported on XDA (the link is to an archived post, the original has since been taken down) in which one of their readers noticed a reference made to a Star Wars accent color while combing through the Launcher, Settings, and SystemUI APKs. The color code in question is #ff2837, which coincidentally enough is the same shade of dark red found in the Star Wars: The Last Jedi posters.

This could be mere coincidence, but further digging uncovered even more Star Wars references, in which XDA found strings of code that read, “DEVICE_CUSTOM_STAR_WARS”. If this is correct, it would mark a pretty major collaboration for OnePlus, especially given that Star Wars: The Last Jedi is currently set for a release in December.

It also isn’t that much of a stretch to think that this collaboration could be real. In the past we’ve seen various smartphone companies collaborate for movie-themed handsets, so for OnePlus to create a Star Wars version of the OnePlus 5T is hardly shocking. Either way hopefully those details will be revealed at the company’s event tomorrow, so check back with us then for updates.
