Google Maps for iOS has received a new update today which bumps up the app to version number 4.47 and brings it in line with its Android counterpart. A couple of new features are included in this release, such as more transit details as well as a very handy feature which shows wait times for more than a million sit-down restaurants across the globe.

The official changelog for this update mentions that some bug fixes are also included alongside the new features which help users discover new places and navigate to them. There’s a new feature that lets users easily sort reviews by ratings and other various factors.

Additional transit directions will tell users exactly which entrance they need to go into to get where they want to go. This feature is available in New York, Hong Kong, Taipei, Paris, Los Angeles, Delhi, Moscow, Singapore, Madrid, Barcelona, Kiev, and Budapest currently while more cities will be added in the future.

Probably the most useful feature included in this Google Maps for iOS update is the ability to show restaurant wait times for more than a million eateries across the globe. The average waiting times will be displayed hour-by-hour throughout the day so that users know at a single glance what are a restaurant’s peak hours and how long the average wait is.

Version 4.47 of Google Maps for iOS is now available from the App Store. It’s a free download, as always.
